KALAMEZHUTHUM PATTUM
A temple ritual is performed in certain parts of Kerala. The Kalam, is the image of the god or goddesses drawn by the artist on the floor using natural colour powders, and the Pattu, is the story of god or the goddesses that is sung by the artist using a musical instrument called the Nanduni. The ritual is mostly performed by the sub-castes of the Nair community in Hinduism, such as Nambiar, Unnithan, Nambeesan, Thambi, Panicker, Kurup, etc.
